Slades 1-Year Warranty

Every watch we sell undergoes a, multi-point inspection and testing process by our watchmakers. We stand behind our inventory, which is why every timepiece purchased directly from our platform includes our comprehensive 1-Year Limited Mechanical Warranty, starting from the date of delivery.

What is Covered

This warranty strictly covers internal mechanical components and manufacturing defects under normal use. This includes:

  • Timekeeping accuracy: The watch fails to keep time within reasonable manufacturer parameters.
  • Movement malfunctions: Issues with the internal gears, mainspring, or automatic winding mechanisms.
  • Complication defects: Failure of built-in functions like the date wheel, chronograph, or moon phase under standard operation. Batteries, solar capacitors, kinetic and other forms of watch power are covered for the warranty period.

What is Excluded

Our warranty ensures the watch runs perfectly, but it does not cover standard wear-and-tear or user-inflicted damage. The warranty does not cover:

  • External cosmetic damage: Scratches, dents, or wear to the case, crystal (glass), bezel, strap, bracelet (and bracelet stretch), or buckle.
  • Water damage: Our watches are tested for water resistance at the time if sale. However, no coverage is provided for moisture damage regardless of the cause. For more on water damage, see *Water Damage below.
  • Accidental impact or abuse: Damage from dropping the watch, heavy impacts, physical shocks, magnetization, or environmental damage.
  • Third-party tampering: Any service, repair, or opening of the watch case by anyone other than Slades voids this warranty entirely. This includes battery replacement. Every watch we sell has a new battery installed by us prior to shipping. If a battery fails within the warranty period, return the watch to us for replacement at no cost. Taking the watch to a third-party for battery replacement, voids the remainder of the warranty.
  • Consumables: Straps, bracelets and parts for these items are not covered.

Manufacturer’s Warranty: Some watches may include manufacturer documentation, box, papers, or a warranty card, at the time of sale. Any warranty offered by the original manufacturer is provided solely by that manufacturer, not by Slades, and is subject to that manufacturer’s own terms. Manufacturers determine for themselves whether their warranty applies to a secondhand purchase, and we cannot confirm or guarantee transferability on their behalf. Our 1-Year Limited Mechanical Warranty is separate from, and unaffected by, any manufacturer’s warranty status.

How to Make a Claim:

If your watch experiences a mechanical issue within your first year of ownership:

  1. Contact our support team immediately to initiate a warranty claim.
  2. We will provide a fully insured, prepaid shipping label for you to safely send the watch back to our service center. We do not provide for shipping outside the US. This warranty applies to watches purchased with delivery to a US address. If you are outside the US at the time of a claim, you are responsible for returning the watch to Slades at your own expense. It’s the owners responsibility to provide a prepaid shipping label, and cover the expenses relating to customs, duties, international shipping costs and any other expenses related to international shipping.
  3. Our watchmakers will inspect, repair, and test the watch at no cost to you, or return your purchase price if a repair is not viable.

This warranty is provided in addition to any rights you may have under applicable state or federal law. Slades reserves the right to determine, at its sole discretion, whether an issue is covered under this warranty and whether repair or refund is the appropriate remedy.

*Water damage: Our watches are tested for water resistance at time of sale. However, water resistance degrades over time regardless of brand or original rating, and once moisture enters a case there is no reliable way to determine whether the cause was gasket wear, an unscrewed crown, or exposure beyond the watch’s rating (hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and hot showers in particular). For this reason, water damage of any kind is not covered under this warranty, consistent with standard practice across the watch industry, including major manufacturers. We recommend having water resistance and gaskets checked annually by a qualified watchmaker, particularly before swimming or diving.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY OF THE BUYER, AND THE ENTIRE LIABILITY OF SLADES FOR ANY BREACH OF THIS WARRANTY, OR FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF THE PERFORMANCE OR FAILURE OF THIS PRODUCT, SHALL BE STRICTLY LIMITED TO THE ACTUAL PURCHASE PRICE PAID BY THE BUYER FOR THE SPECIFIC PRODUCT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
IN NO EVENT SHALL SLADES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF USE, OR DAMAGE TO OTHER PROPERTY), WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
